SUCCESS THROUGH SPIRITUAL ATTRACTION

From the June 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

THE question that presents itself to everyone one who has a goal to attain is, "What do I need to do in order to succeed?" Experience has proved that success in any direction includes, to a considerable degree, the ability to establish compatible relationships with others. But true compatible relationships do not include any element of human domination or the forcing of human will upon another.

For example, so-called modern salesmanship often administers a large dose of human psychology for the purpose of persuading someone to make the purchase of a product he does not need, or even want, and cannot afford. This practice does not produce a true "meeting of the minds," as the saying goes, but is a misguided, selfish effort at human domination or erroneous influence.

Christian Science denounces the exercise of human domination or selfish human influence in any direction, because this exercise is not consistent with the teachings of Christ Jesus. He said (Matt. 7:12), "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them."
