Over seventeen years ago I became interested in Christian Science through a copy of The Christian Science Monitor. I was then seeking and praying for a healing for my sister, who was suffering from a nervous disorder. She was visiting me, and on accompanying her back to her home in a western state, before taking the train in a large railway terminal, I asked the attendant at a newsstand if he had a religious paper or magazine of some sort.
He paused for a moment and asked, "Would you like The Christian Science Monitor?" I answered in the affirmative, and, after boarding the train, I opened the paper and started reading the front page, which impressed me very much with its conciseness. I then turned to The Home Forum page and read the religious article and thought it so fine that I read it again aloud to my sister.
Then I saw Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy advertised as the way out of all trouble, and I found that this book could be read, borrowed, or purchased at any Christian Science Reading Room throughout the world. I thought to myself, "I must get that book."
