OUR TRUE ABIDING PLACE

From the July 1964 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Many people in this rapidly changing and turbulent era are finding need for a greater sense of security and peace; many feel the need for guidance and supply; many are seeking a place in which to dwell, or abide. These needs are both natural and worthy; yet to those who think deeply, there is an even greater need, that of an understanding of the truth which underlies all right activity and accomplishment.

Christian Science explains the way to gain this understanding. It reveals the fact that there is a scientific, demonstrable law of God applicable to the meeting of every human need. Spiritual understanding will surely come if only we listen to the voice of God and seek His leading. God's power and presence are felt when we pray with the faith that with Him all things are possible.

The quest for a greater measure of faith and spiritual understanding is not unlike Abraham's search. We are told that he went forth seeking "a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God" (Hebr. 11:10). This city is not a material place but the abode of spiritual consciousness, of joy and peace. Man's abiding place is in God, the divine Mind. Through understanding and utilizing our spiritual nature and unity with God, we find our human needs met. This understanding includes the true idea of home or right place, the true idea of activity and supply.
