As the world becomes progressively smaller, we inevitably become more conscious of our fellowmen. Mortal mind, through its inherent perverseness, often seems to dwell on the differences in mankind, no matter how inconsequential. But no human dissimilarities, whether of custom, color, or tongue, should ever blind us to the fact in Christian Science that we all are children of the same infinitely loving Father-Mother God.
Christ Jesus' complete disregard of prejudice was outstanding. His refusal to condemn the woman taken in adultery, his gracious and compassionate acceptance of the sinning woman's contrition, his uninhibited association with the intensely disliked publicans, and even his spending time with bigoted and hypocritical Pharisees clearly demonstrated the wideness of his love.
Our Saviour did not ignore or underestimate the social problems these people represented, but neither did he accept the problems as God-given realities. He knew that God's man is never subject to any claim of material origin or of a human classification. As we gain a correct understanding of God as the only creator and Parent, false beliefs of national, racial, economic, or creedal divisions will cease to be a factor in our relations with others.
