Christian Science was introduced into our family by my mother, who received wonderful help from its teachings. However, although I was quite prepared to admit what it had done for her, I had no desire to look into its teachings for myself; and when I started to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, it was more to please her than from any real interest. In this frame of mind I understood very little of what I read until gradually the logic of its teachings broke through my apathy and I found many of my unanswered questions answered.
In the more than thirty years since I began to study in earnest I have had many proofs of the power of Truth to overcome and destroy all manner of discord and limitation.
One healing which has taken place over the years has been that of stuttering. This problem caused me much distress during my school days, and the apprehension and embarrassment of having to read aloud were a constant nightmare. While I was attending high school, it came to me very forcibly one day that there must surely be a way of overcoming this difficulty. Shortly after this my mother heard of Christian Science, which later proved to be the liberator.
