Earnest Christian Scientists pray each day the "Daily Prayer," given them by Mrs. Eddy in the Manual of The Mother Church, "'Thy kingdom come;' let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!"Man., Art. VIII, Sect. 4; In so doing they are embracing the world in their thought in regard to race, color, or creed.
This praying for the enrichment of "the affections of all mankind" finds a practical expression in the selfless service of lecturers voicing the truths of Christian Science in countries where this religion has been hitherto little known. It is manifested in the world circulation of The Christian Science Monitor, a newspaper which is gladly received by many who are in no way identified with Christian Science but who in accepting the Monitor are giving their assent to those standards which Science supports through the Monitor. Thus God's Word is enriching the affections—the positive inclinations for good in mankind.
Christian Science is taking root in many countries in informal groups, in an increasing number of Christian Science Societies, and in the branch Churches of Christ, Scientist. This religion has no organized missionary movement; but the reading of its religious periodicals—The Christian Science Journal, Christian Science Sentinel, and The Herald of Christian Science — sometimes picked up from a distribution box in some public place, such as an airport, or the reading of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, in a remote country village has been the beginning of interest in Science.
