When I first met my future husband and read some of the Christian Science literature in which he was interested, it sounded like sheer nonsense. Even after he had a healing of a ruptured appendix, I was still incredulous; but gradually by continued study we were both healed of smoking and drinking. Since then our moral and spiritual progress has been steady.
Before the birth of our second child the attending physician said that the birth would be prolonged since an X-ray picture showed that the child was in the wrong position for delivery. Immediately, in my thinking, I reversed the statements made by the physician, declaring truths of God and man. The child turned naturally and was born properly and quickly.
Four days after the birth I suddenly lost consciousness at the breakfast table. My mother, who was not a student of Christian Science, later expressed her opinion that I had experienced an epileptic attack. Her mother, she said, passed on with that malady. She then recommended that I follow certain material remedial measures. Instantly I turned to God and realized that He had not fathered such an illness for His children. Never again was there any trouble of that kind.
