I have cause to be grateful for Christian Science. I learned the fundamentals of this religion by attending its Sunday School throughout my grade and high school years. For the few years following, I did not continue my study or application of the teachings of Science. Eventually I became ill from an infection which the doctor said was contagious and would take several months to cure. After three days of thought, I made up my mind to resort to Christian Science alone for healing. I reasoned that this time I would have to decide definitely to stay with Science all my life. I had used it a few times during the past six or eight years; but as soon as I had received healing or relief, I had set it aside again.
I made an appointment with a Christian Science practitioner, whose name I found in the Journal. I was sincere in wanting to depend on this type of treatment alone. The first thing I did was to telephone the doctor's office, canceling all my appointments with him. I had treatments through prayer from the practitioner for three days, and I am more grateful than I can put into words that the healing was complete.
I do not recall the specific topic of study I used, but to me it proves that Christian Scientists must obey the Bible instruction (II Cor. 6:14, 17): "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers. . . . Come out from among them, and be ye separate."
