The Christian Science textbook was in...

From the June 1967 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Christian Science textbook was in our home when I was a child because a business acquaintance had seen the need for it and invited my father to go to a Christian Science Reading Room, from which he purchased the book. However, the study of Christian Science was not taken up by my family, and I continued to attend a Protestant Sunday School.

At about the age of eleven, looking around for something to satisfy my longing for the truth of being, I picked up the textbook and read from it. I do not remember what I read, but it was enough to be the guiding influence in my life. I was attending another Sunday School and had been invited to join that church, but the glimpse of Truth I had received stayed with me, and I finally found my way to the Church of Christ, Scientist, in my early twenties.

Many physical difficulties have been overcome, among which are anemia and the need for wearing glasses. The laying aside of glasses came about when I was sweeping up what was left of a pair of glasses that had fallen on a tile floor. The angel message came to me that sight couldn't be in the glass because true sight could not be broken into little pieces.
