God is a help in every situation in life if one relies on Him. When I was still in my old homeland, I became acquainted with Christian Science and experienced a healing of sciatica. In severe pain, I looked in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and on page 494 found the glorious sentence, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." These words were my help in trouble. The suffering disappeared.
God's protection and love were always perceptible to me and my family during the period we were refugees. We were taken to a large camp; I was there with my mother and sister for five years. In this camp I soon had a small group around me eager to learn of Christian Science, and I even found a Christian Scientist there. We held Sunday services with these people. I had taken the Bible and Science and Health with me when we left our home.
We wanted very much to leave the camp. Through the help of a practitioner I first found a store and built my business up again. God's help in the process was obvious. I also had an apartment in the same house. But this arrangement was not very harmonious. Therefore my longing for a quiet home was great. One day a lady came into my store and asked whether we knew anyone who would take over a contract for having a house built on a piece of ground.
