WINGS OF THE MORNING

From the April 1968 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Before the rising of the sun,
Or the moon's fading from the sky,
I wake and, awestruck, contemplate
In depth man's true identity.

Child of the ever-living God,
Idea of the eternal Mind,
By Spirit's light I walk a road
With grace and beauty strawed and spined.

The wonder of unfolding dawn
Is a new birth for me each day.
I rise to song of birds, myself
With song go winged upon my way.
