A Resort for Spiritual Restoration

From the February 1969 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The idea of a resort for spiritual restoration is as old as the knowledge of the one God. "Be thou my strong habitation, where unto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress,"
Ps. 71:3; the Psalmist sang, knowing that his spiritual resort existed in his relationship to God.

Suggestions of the carnal mind cannot come into the presence of Truth and Love. They must yield and fade out in the presence of the understanding of the oneness, or unity, of God and man.

When the city of the prophet Elisha was besieged by the forces of the king of Syria, he demonstrated the ever-presence of God's spiritual resort for man in terms that his servant could accept. The Bible tells us: "Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha."
II Kings 6:17;
