The Instant of Healing

From the October 1971 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Every Christian Science treatment is given with the anticipation of instant healing. No one really has to wait for Truth. However, sometimes it may seem that Truth waits for us to comprehend it, to have confidence in it, or to be willing to let go of accumulated mortal thoughts, some of which would likely be unfounded fears.

Fear diminishes when a sufferer begins to have assurance of Love's tender care for him. Once his thought is quieted, the way is open for Truth to enter. This Truth is the Christ, which heals instantly as it enters thought. At this moment he glimpses spiritual perfection, and may know that he was never remotely identified with any difficulty.

Often the change in the physical evidence is almost simultaneous with this mental change. Sometimes the physical confirmation of healing follows a little later, but it will inevitably come when the one receiving the inspiration holds on to the truth he has realized. An experienced Christian Scientist, knowing that the mental change is the healing, will wisely hold to it with conviction. Such steadfastness will carry him over the top of the problem because he doubts not that his sincere efforts are supported by Truth, Life, and Love.
