I grew up enjoying good health and from a material standpoint had the necessary strength to work and play games for very long hours without becoming fatigued.
When I joined a large company, I passed the necessary medical examination with no problems, and after working for them a short time was given holidays and went to my father's farm to help him. It was in the war years and he was having a hard time to get his crop harvested. After working on the farm during these holidays, I returned to the company, and a few days later I became ill and was taken to the hospital and was operated on. My wife was told that there was very little chance of my recovery. The doctors told me they could not understand what was keeping me here, and after two months said they could do no more for me. I returned home.
My wife read the Bible to me, and she also had a small Christian Science textbook, which she had purchased at the Chicago World's Fair, which we read. We attended church services at the local Christian Science church and learned of a practitioner, whom I visited, and who gave me treatment upon request. I was healed and returned to my work for about three years. The work was considered to be a job with a great deal of pressure, but I found no difficulty in doing this work. Later we moved to another community and started in a business of our own, and have enjoyed abundant supply, health, and happiness.
