An earnest young woman was explaining to a Christian Science practitioner how very much she wanted to put God first and progress in her study and demonstration of Christian Science, but there just never seemed to be enough time. She said she was truly desirous of spending a great deal of time each day in the prayerful contemplation of spiritual things. But with a full-time job, a home and family to care for, and night classes, she wondered how much time could she possibly have left to pray.
"Try ten minutes," the practitioner replied.
She then explained to the young woman that while the real man, our true, spiritual selfhood, is unhindered by the mortal concept called time, and forever fulfills the holy purpose of divine Mind—that while in reality Principle governs its own perfect ideas, unobstructed by time or space— nevertheless human effort and action are needed at our present stage of spiritual growth in order to make these truths practical.
