Invitations to address meetings

(To replace statement in The Christian Science Journal, February, 1972)

From the May 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

At times individual members of The Mother Church receive invitations to give talks pertaining to Christian Science at meetings called in the interest of branch church or college organization activities or to consider the application of Christian Science to the solution of pressing local, national, and world problems. It is in order for a member of The Mother Church to accept an invitation to address any of the following: an inspirational meeting for the membership of a branch or for an informal group of Christian Scientists working toward recognition as a branch, a branch committee or joint committee meeting, a college organization open house or seminar.

However, we recommend that the individual Christian Scientist accept no more than three such invitations during a calendar year and no more than one from any single group. Talks which a member gives in his own branch or college organization would not be included in this number.

In addition, members of The Mother Church sometimes receive invitations to give talks pertaining to Christian Science to secular activities for Christian Scientists such as youth groups, forums, camps, schools, community service groups. We recommend that the individual member accept no more than three invitations from secular groups during any calendar year and no more than one from any single group.
