Where the Action Is

From the May 1972 issue of The Christian Science Journal

People like to see things happen. A day without events seems stagnant. Young people, especially, want to be "where the action is," to take part in something consequential.

Just what is meant by action, and where is it to be found? To act is to exert energy or force, to produce an effect. Since God is the only power and presence, all real action takes place in God. It consists of the dynamic unfoldment of ideas. These spiritual ideas invariably reflect the nature of the only true consciousness, Mind, God, who is their source.

Since action springs from God, it never ceases, for divine Mind never stops having effect. It is harmonious, for God cannot produce clashing discords or anything that would fail to express His intelligence and self-consistency. Each act discloses more comprehensively the endless beauty and might of Soul's majesty, creative ingenuity, and total goodness.
