My gratitude for the help and inspiration I have received from the testimonies of others impels me to submit these proofs of God's care. My most precious heritage is having been raised in Christian Science. As soon as I was old enough to attend the Christian Science Sunday School, I began regular attendance at a branch church. How grateful I am for the firm foundation laid by the dedicated teachers and for the loving guidance of my parents!
Before I was three, my mother asked for my help after she had struggled for several hours to heal herself of a sick headache. I earnestly declared, "God never made it," and went on with my play. She was instantaneously healed.
Years later, before we were to dress for dinner on the weekend of my brother's wedding, Mother had worked prayerfully all day to free herself of the same problem, a sick headache. Discouraged, she said she couldn't possibly go to meet my brother's future parents-in-law, for she hadn't the strength to get dressed. I prayed silently for her, and she had another instantaneous healing. When asked what truth I used, I told her it was Mrs. Eddy's statement, "Whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself" (Science and Health, p. 385), and I added the thought, in my own words, "without any suffering or sense of pressure."
