When you think of the practice of Christian Science, what comes to your thought? Healings? Regeneration of character? Practitioners listed in The Christian Science Journal? A great way of life for somebody? Somebody else—but definitely not you?
I know what the practice meant to a secretary who knew little of Christian Science. She had this to say when she heard that someone she worked with was going into the practice: "You've got to talk to him and stop him from going through with this religious stuff. Why, he's no kook!"
How many of us are still holding on to our own "kooky" concepts of the practice? You know, weird concepts such as, "Why, I'm not of practitioner caliber." Or, "How in the world could my family live on the proceeds?"
