Imparting the Healing Truth

From the July 1973 issue of The Christian Science Journal

When a Christian Scientist is called upon to pray scientifically for someone's healing, he is being asked to bring to bear upon the errors of the case the truth of being. The truth in every case is perfect God and perfect man, God the infinite Mind and man the reflection or idea. The effect of scientific prayer is the exposure and nullification of the cause of disease and of the symptoms.

Mary Baker Eddy, in the chapter on Christian Science Practice in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, writes: "The infinite Truth of the Christ-cure has come to this age through a 'still, small voice,' through silent utterances and divine anointing which quicken and increase the beneficial effects of Christianity. I long to see the consummation of my hope, namely, the student's higher attainments in this line of light."Science and Health, p. 367;

Later in the same chapter she says: "Always begin your treatment by allaying the fear of patients. Silently reassure them as to their exemption from disease and danger. Watch the result of this simple rule of Christian Science, and you will find that it alleviates the symptoms of every disease."p. 411;
