On the other end of the line the Christian Science practitioner sensed the deep concern the mother had for her daughter, and his heart went out to both of them.
"It's certainly your privilege," he said, "to have the kind of care you wish for your daughter. So if you want medical care, I understand perfectly. And I'll immediately get off the case."
