Over forty-five years ago my need for physical healing was very great. Medical science offered me surgery but no guarantee of healing. I had tried many remedies. To relieve pain, I took sedatives, only to awake in more pain. The condition was an infected gallbladder, with gallstones.
In my despair I asked my mother-in-law, who was a Christian Scientist, if Science could help me. She assured me nothing was impossible to God, and I consented to have a practitioner come to our home. Prayerful treatment was begun, and my sleep became natural. All medicine was given up. Although the pain lessened, it did not completely disappear.
One day, during a painful attack, my mother-in-law reminded me of the Bible statement, "In [God] we live, and move, and have our being" (Acts 17:28). The true meaning of these words of Paul became clear to me, and I was instantly healed.
