Our entire family became interested in Christian Science when a financial problem of my father's was solved through the prayers of a Christian Science practitioner. I was invited to visit a Church of Christ, Scientist, with the family. At the time I was teaching in a Sunday School of another denomination. Some months later I felt I had nothing to teach the children, so I gave up the class and became a regular attendant at the Christian Science church.
My older sister and I commuted to jobs in Cleveland and we enjoyed reading the Christian Science periodicals in the train station while we waited. At noon I usually visited a Reading Room not far from work.
I had visited a Christian Science practitioner who spoke to me of the nature of God. During this visit I was healed of the need to wear glasses. The practitioner encouraged me to visit her again. I went on Wednesday and afterward she took me to a testimony meeting. I felt the love of the members and regretted the shyness which prevented my rising to express gratitude for the healing of impaired vision I had received. Before the next meeting, however, I wrote out my testimony but was able to stand and give it without looking at my notes.
