The Normal class of the Board of Education was held early in December. In compliance with the By-Law, Article XXX, Section 1, of the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy, this class convenes on the first Wednesday of December in each third year.
The teacher of the 1973 class was Mrs. Helen Wood Bauman, C. S. B., of Boston, Massachusetts, a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science. Mrs. Bauman served the movement as Associate Editor and Editor of the Christian Science periodicals for over twenty-two years.
In accordance with the provisions of the Manual, the class was composed of thirty students, who will provide new teachers for Africa, Australia, Canada, England, and South America, as well as the District of Columbia and the following states: California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Texas.
