Human Consciousness Is More than Mortal Mind

From the February 1974 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The basis of all real consciousness is God, divine Mind. Man reflects this Mind. And recognizing this reflection enables us to turn to God, to the Mind of Christ, to purify our thinking and our lives of mortal mind elements.

Mortality or mortal mind or a sense of sin may appear real to human consciousness, but mortal mind itself is never consciousness. Mortal mind, claiming that matter is real and has power, constantly promotes this illusion. By calling itself real or good, it claims force and power in thought. Mortal mind would get itself accepted as a part of or attached to man.

Do we tend to think of mortal mind and human consciousness as identical?
