The Journal of November 1956 included a testimony expressing my gratitude for a healing in Christian Science. This took place on my first visit to a practitioner after about four years of invalidism. The prognosis of the medical doctors and surgeons on the case had been that I would become a wheelchair patient.
I had known about Christian Science for many years previous to the illness and enjoyed the fluency of the writing in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, but otherwise paid it no attention. However, I do remember that I did feel grateful for Mrs. Eddy and marveled at her fortitude. I now feel that my recognition of Mrs. Eddy's efforts and desire to bless mankind contributed to my receptivity to the effective treatment of the practitioner.
While there was much healing of the invalidism on the first visit to a practitioner, in that major symptoms disappeared quickly, a few annoying problems remained. I soon found out that these were to be my responsibility and not alone the practitioner's.
