God's Allness Is Basic

From the April 1976 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The understanding of God's allness is priceless. Whoever grasps the deep basic meaning of this truth, even in part, is able to demonstrate it, bringing out for himself and others more of the well-being that belongs to God's creation.

Many people believe God's allness means that He made everything, both good and bad. But Mrs. Eddy explains that because God is good and God's allness includes everything, is all, this doesn't leave room for anything else or for anything that could be evil. In the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, she says, "Allness is the measure of the infinite, and nothing less can express God." Science and Health, p. 336;

The Bible tells us that "God created man in his own image," and "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." Gen. 1:27, 31; It also tells us that "without him was not any thing made that was made." John 1:3; Mrs. Eddy's statements concerning the allness of God, good, parallel these passages.
