Testimonies of Healing

I originally became acquainted with...

From the April 1976 issue of The Christian Science Journal

[Original in French]

I originally became acquainted with Christian Science in 1948 when my wife's aunt invited us to a lecture. Even though I did not know English, I went with my wife. I was surprised by the atmosphere of joy, love, and spirituality. The lecturer reflected these qualities so much that in spite of my ignorance of the English language I was very attentive. The most marvelous part was that when I returned home, after an observation made by my wife, I realized that I had been healed of a very severe case of angina. This was my first Christian Science healing. I was very grateful to God for it, and from that day on we have continued to study this wonderful religion.

Now, I hope that the following testimony may help those who are looking for employment, especially people who are older than fifty years of age. Having lost my employment for the first time, I called for help from a Christian Science practitioner, and she prayed for me. On page 494 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." This passage helped me very much; also the fact that at that time I had just been accepted as a member of The Mother Church. Soon I had an opportunity to apply for employment. While waiting for a decision, I studied the following Bible passage (Col. 3:23, 24): "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance." I was accepted for the job, which amply met my needs.
