I wish to share an instantaneous healing that came about from understanding, in some degree, the allness of God and man's individual perfect relationship to Him as His offspring.
My eldest son was in a land-mine explosion. The mine was detonated by the rear wheel of the vehicle he and a fellow soldier were traveling in one evening. The military doctor who spent the night with the young men diagnosed, in my son's case, severe internal injuries and spinal complications. By first light they were flown by helicopter to a city hospital, where they were placed in the casualty section. The Army chaplain, who was not a Christian Scientist, called immediately on my wife, and I was phoned at the office and apprised of these details. My wife and I claimed our identity and those of these two young men as complete, unfragmented, and perfect in God.
My wife and I met at the hospital. I carried the Bible with me, and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. On my arrival I sat in the car and opened the Bible, where I read the following from Proverbs (3:5, 6): "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." I placed my hand in that of God and made my way into the hospital, where I joined my wife, who had already seen our son. I went to him as he lay flat on his back, still in his grimy uniform, and spoke of the truth of spiritual being as we are taught in Christian Science. He was then wheeled away to be examined at the instance of the military authorities by two medical doctors and two consulting specialists, while my wife and I, in a waiting room set at our disposal, prayed and studied from the Bible and Science and Health to gain a clearer understanding of one God, including His perfect creation, man.
