While at the university, I was introduced to Christian Science by a girl who was later to become my wife. Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was lent to me, and I read it through in about one week. Soon after, I realized that sick headaches, which had heretofore incapacitated me for two days at a time, had completely vanished from my experience.
Shortly afterward I was employed, and my wife-to-be and I were parted for about four years except for occasional leaves. However, I still read the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly from the Bible and Science and Health, and I became a subscriber to the Christian Science Sentinel. Study of the lesson and reading the Sentinel helped me considerably at that time. After we were married we began to attend together a local branch Church of Christ, Scientist.
My wife was a member, and in order to be together I, too, applied for membership and was accepted. I had by this time been healed of all desire for tobacco, intoxicants, and an internal complaint that was never diagnosed but that had caused me considerable pain for some time. This condition was healed in one treatment.
