Deny disease any mind or consciousness

No Mind but God

From the January 1978 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In Christian Science one of the basic synonyms of God is Mind, and when we read the first commandment in this light we arrive at a very important fact— namely, that we should acknowledge no other Mind but God, good, infinite Spirit. This is a strong point in the healing practice of this Science.

All we experience is a state of mind, a state of consciousness. When we learn how to have one God, one Mind, our thought and life are filled with all the goodness of God. Thus we protect our thought and defend our experience in a variety of ways. We defend it against disease, and finally we defend it against the last enemy, death. What doesn't enter our consciousness either by our permission or by association with general belief can't enter our experience. And when we succeed in thoroughly excluding error or evil from thought, we'll find it's excluded from our lives.

Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health, "To get rid of sin through Science, is to divest sin of any supposed mind or reality, and never to admit that sin can have intelligence or power, pain or pleasure."Science and Health, p. 339; In the study and prayer required in the pursuit of Christian Science we're constantly engaged in honoring the presence and power of God, or good. Realizing the allness of God, the allness of good, we exclude evil, which is in fact only a suppositional presence, the opposite of good. In his healing activity Jesus cast out evil, evil spirits, demons. He denounced evil as "a liar, and the father of it."John 8:44; He cast it out with authority, as when he said to the dumb and deaf spirit, "Come out of him, and enter no more into him."Mark 9:25; Rebuking error in this way is a direct procedure in Christian Science treatment.
