I was sent to the Christian Science Sunday School...

From the January 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I was sent to the Christian Science Sunday School when I was a young teenager. I was convinced of the efficacy of this Science when I consulted a practitioner about finding employment upon graduating from high school during the depression years. I pondered the spiritual ideas she gave me and was led to a position that could have required much more education and experience, but which I held for six years, until starting my family. Since then, Science has been my basis in raising two children, finding satisfying activity, and healing all physical illness.

Some years ago, and over a period of years, I was disturbed in the night with pains in my hand; and in the morning, for a brief time, I would be unable to lift a cup or grasp anything with that hand. My attitude then was one of gratitude that it did not interfere with my work, which involved much writing and typing.

My aunt, a medical nurse for many years, visited us during this time. Noticing the disfigurement of my fingers, she said I had arthritis. I was planning to make application for class instruction and felt I must be free of illness before taking this step. I had quit my job and spent several days studying references to "right hand" in the Bible and in Mrs. Eddy's writings, denying evidences that would hinder my normal activity or interfere with my progress. I was able to honestly make application for class, free of the symptoms of arthritis. The healing was complete, and there has been no recurrence in the past eight years.
