Over the years Christian Science has given me much to be grateful for. A healing I would like to relate concerns a college education for my daughter.
Her father passed on when she was not quite three years old. During the following years I had claimed that she could not be deprived of a complete life, as truly God is Father to all of His children. When she finished high school, I was working in a department store as head of the ready-to-wear department at a rather low salary of $80 a month. This was before the days of equal pay for women. I had $125 in savings. I had always planned that my daughter should have a college education. I reasoned that if it were good, then it belonged to all those who desired it, not just to girls whose parents were able to afford it.
The summer following my daughter's graduation from high school she worked for a construction company and was well liked. Friends were counseling me that college would not give her any better advantage than working in this company. But to me it was not a question of how much money she would make, but the fact that college would be a rich experience for her.
