Testimonies of Healing

I am grateful for the loved Leader ...

From the February 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I am grateful for the loved Leader of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, and for her writings, which are a continual source of inspiration. I am also grateful to have attended a Christian Science Sunday School, for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church, and for class instruction.

In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy gives us her interpretation of the twentythird Psalm. Part of this reads (p. 578), "[LOVE'S] rod and [LOVE'S] staff they comfort me." I have had many opportunities to prove Love's ever-present comfort.

One healing that has been a source of much inspiration occurred when two of my fingers were severely cut. One evening my brother and I were carving. The knife I was using slipped, deeply cutting two fingers. The physical evidence was unsightly. The hand was wrapped, and God's allness was affirmed. In the morning my mom asked me to call a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful help. This was the first time I remember calling a practitioner. The practitioner was very loving. She asked me to study "the scientific statement of being" found on page 468 of Science and Health. Part of this statement is, "Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal."
