My husband and I adopted our first two children when they were infants. In the case of our first child we were told that because of our religion the waiting period would be much longer. We prayed, acknowledging that God cares for all His ideas, and that this did not depend upon time or circumstance. Mrs. Eddy states (Science and Health, p. 506), "Spirit, God, gathers unformed thoughts into their proper channels, and unfolds these thoughts, even as He opens the petals of a holy purpose in order that the purpose may appear."
We brought our baby boy home exactly three months after applying for adoption. We were told that because the natural mother requested a Christian Science home, a request they had never before had, the adoption bureau decided to give the baby to us, even though there were many couples ahead of us.
When we adopted our daughter, it was very harmonious and took only five months.
