A little more warmth, please!

From the April 1979 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Sometimes Christian Scientists' love for God and man may not come across to neighbors and associates. To one, serenity may translate into aloofness or smugness. To another, a deep desire to share may seem overzealous or pushy.

Our expression of love, when it is prompted by the right motive and guided by prayer, cannot fail to touch the receptive heart. Our warm humanity can well prepare an individual for divine Love's deeper, spiritual message. But how important that our actions are God-directed, not merely impulsive.

In the realm of spiritual reality— which is the only true realm—there can be only life, no death, because God is indestructible Life. But to flatly tell someone who is bereaved that there is no death could seem cold and uncaring if this one were not aware of the deeper scientific implications of this statement. Praying for just the right way to console and yet uplift, we find it and impart the message of eternal Life.
