What is a healing church?

From the October 1980 issue of The Christian Science Journal

While First Reader in a Church of Christ, Scientist, I once prepared a series of Wednesday evening readings on what it means to be a Christian. One particular afternoon I was working late putting together readings on "the Way."

As I was pondering what it meant to follow the Way and what the Way really is in the revelation of Christian Science, the telephone rang. A man unknown to me asked if he could come see me immediately. I hesitated, thinking momentarily that I was too busy working on the readings, and I asked if he could possibly come another time.

He seemed genuinely concerned at this suggestion. "Oh," he said, "couldn't I come today? I am so searching for the Way!" He came immediately that day, and I was able to share the discovery of the Way in Christian Science with this sincere, seeking individual who needed the healing Christ in his life.
