You have a mission

From the March 1980 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Each one of us, as a child of God, is irreplaceable in his or her expression of the infinite qualities of the creator. Each reflects and expresses God as no one else can. Each one's individuality, place, and purpose are essential to God's being. And because man reflects the all-knowing Mind, God, each of us can understand his God-ordained mission and fulfill it.

Christ Jesus did. He said, "To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth." John 18:37; His life did just that. His understanding of God healed and regenerated all who were receptive. He was about his "Father's business"—dedicated, consecrated, committed.

Reaching out to all mankind with salvation from suffering, wrong, and death, divine Science is the promised Comforter, with a universal destiny. Understanding this and demonstrating the truth in our own lives, we become committed to the cause of Truth, as Jesus' followers learned to be. We find our individual sense of mission. It is born of love for God, hunger for the truth, deep caring for our fellowman, and a willingness to put aside the belief in mortal selfhood.
