The divine influence in today's world

From the March 1980 issue of The Christian Science Journal

There is great concern today about the evil influences besetting humanity. Some evils are so cloaked in clever rhetoric that it takes special skill even to identify them and separate convincingly what is corrosive to society from what is beneficial. The same problem existed in Bible times. But the Bible brings out this overriding fact: Where the divine influence is understood and utilized, it can expose, counteract, and destroy evil influences, however entrenched, however self-deceived and deceiving.

The divine influence is not a mysterious force. It's the activity of thoughts that emanate from God, divine Mind. The divine influence operating in and through us is holy power, but always it is reflected power, since divine Mind, not man himself, is its source.

Spiritually considered, man is created in God's likeness. Let us consider what understanding this fact means.
