Christian Science is wonderful, and I am grateful to be a lifelong student of this teaching. When I was in high school, I suffered what appeared to be a severe hemorrhage of the lungs. About five minutes after a Christian Science practitioner was called to pray for me, the hemorrhaging ceased. There were no aftereffects, nor was there a return of the condition. Other healings include those of a fractured ankle, a tendency toward periodic colds, a skin condition of several years duration, recurring boils, apparent bronchial pneumonia, effects of an auto accident, and headaches. Also, through Science we've discovered solutions to many business problems, which have benefited everyone involved.
About twenty years ago I had some dental work done. Three days after visiting the dentist I could not open my mouth, although I managed to talk and eat soft foods. My lower jaw was out of place and firmly locked. For several days I prayed earnestly to overcome this difficulty, but there was no apparent change. Fear of the condition reached a point that it seemed advisable to call a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. The practitioner prayed over a period of a few days. There was no evident change in the condition, but the fear was greatly lessened. At that point, as I wished to continue the prayerful work on my own, I released the practitioner.
Although the situation remained the same for a number of weeks, during that time we went on a vacation we'd planned. My husband fished, while I spent about 90 percent of my time studying in an effort to learn more about my Maker and my relationship to Him. Along with the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I took with me a number of books about our Leader, including Irving C. Tomlinson's Twelve Years with Mary Baker Eddy.
