Praying effectively for our church

From the November 1981 issue of The Christian Science Journal

To pray effectively for our church we need to keep before our gaze, crystal-clear, what the church really is. Then Truth's spiritual standard will uncover the erroneous beliefs needing to be destroyed, and we will be enabled to deal conclusively with them through scientific prayer.

Like a shaft of light penetrating darkness, the Comforter— divine Science of God, man, and universe—has come to human apprehension through revelation. Our church is the visible manifestation of the Comforter in the collective realm. The real Church is appearing more and more clearly to human view through the impulsion of divine Truth and through our progressive demonstration of Love.

Through spiritual understanding we perceive the real Church to be already established, permanent and enduring, impregnable, indestructible, its stability and strength divinely sustained as the unfolding manifestation of the divine Principle, Love. The real Church, structured by Truth, is a state of consciousness full of grace and joy, love and warmth.
