The Lamb of God destroys animal magnetism

From the March 1982 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In Science, we have no reason to fear animal magnetism. Never for a moment, anywhere, has it ever been real, powerful, or substantial. Perhaps someone has told you: "You have work to do. You should handle animal magnetism." Has this caused concern? We do have work to do. We do need to see through the impositions of error and prove them unreal. This sometimes takes much work.

But there is no actual reason to be alarmed, because, from the standpoint of sound, Christianly scientific reasoning, animal magnetism cannot be anything more than error or mortal mind. In the supremacy of all-pervading Spirit, nothing unlike spiritual good is present or in action. God's unconditional allness precludes the verity of any opposite action or presence—of material substance, evil intelligence, or mortal life.

Animal magnetism, then, is only a belief, only a deluded state of thought. Factually, there is only one consciousness, the unceasing, unobstructed divine Mind, which is Spirit. And spiritual man, the true individuality of you and me, is the reflection of this eternally conscious Mind; therefore he inherits only the qualities of his eternal Maker, the one God, good.
