In the midst of the fear
a song—quiet at first
but silver-clear—
in the midst of the fear.
He had promised His song
would be with me at night!
And now in the midst of the fear
this silver sound . . . am I wrong?
No! Now it is ever more strong
to my quickened ear.
Nothing but harmony here!
Song in the night, as He said—
a lifter-up of my head
(putting to silence the dread)
with its message, consistent and clear:
"Nothing but harmony here."
