I have found that total reliance on God for guidance and healing has resulted in blessings beyond the capacity of human means. Every discordant situation in my life has been healed through practicing the spiritual truths I have learned in the study of Christian Science. As I've trusted our child to the care of his Father-Mother God, he too has received much good. Healings in our family include those of anemia, heart trouble, colds, flu, chronic throat trouble, and nosebleeds. Also, a greater understanding of God's love has resulted in a more secure sense of home and companionship. Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized."
When our son was several months old, a physical condition developed. My husband, who was not interested in Christian Science, became very fearful and took the baby to a pediatrician. The difficulty was diagnosed as a double hernia. My husband then took the baby to a surgeon, who verified this diagnosis. The surgeon stated that an operation should be performed immediately, adding, "This is something that will not go away by itself." As he was setting the date for an operation, he was told that I was still nursing the baby and probably would be for several more months. He abandoned all plans for the surgery and said that we should call him when the baby was no longer being nursed.
I had been working with a Christian Science practitioner during this time, and now I felt free to have the practitioner pray for the baby. For my part, I strove earnestly to view only God's man, expressing health and wholeness. Soon the complete healing was evident. That was twenty years ago. From grade school up to the present, our son has been extremely active in sports of all kinds, and for several years he has been weight lifting. There has been complete freedom during all these activities.
