Putting due value on Christian Science treatment

From the May 1983 issue of The Christian Science Journal

All afternoon and on into the night a relatively new Christian Science practitioner had been earnestly praying for a patient with an urgent problem. Through communion with divine Love she had seen through each mortal fear involved in the case and had vigorously and understandingly affirmed the present perfection of God and of man in His own image. She saw that man is as safe as God is and felt her work was done . . . yet her patient's condition continued to grow more and more grave.

Not knowing what could be left for her to do, the practitioner reached out to the heavenly Father for an answer. She then felt led to ponder the healing work of the Master, Christ Jesus. She knew she was practicing the same Principle of healing he taught, but suddenly the practitioner saw a powerful factor in Jesus' healing success, a factor she had never given much consideration to before. One reason he was so confident in his work was that he understood his place in the divine plan of universal salvation as prophesied in scripture. In thought she briefly traced the omnipotent love of God in its tender unfoldment of Truth, from the earliest biblical prophecy, to the mission of Christ Jesus, to his promise of the divine Comforter and its eventual fulfillment in the revelation of Christian Science. She rejoiced in the irresistible power of divine Love shown in the progressive annihilation of the beliefs of sin, disease, and death—evidence of God's working His purpose out!

Then, for the very first time, she saw her own place in prophecy as a scientific practitioner of divine Science, the Holy Comforter—as an instrument used by Love to help usher in the new heaven and earth. And therefore she had the authority and power of God Himself behind her! With renewed and awed respect for her healing practice, she felt a oneness with God that surpassed any previous revelation. Suddenly she said right out loud, "Why Father, I am Your very expression—the individual reflection of Life, Truth, and Love—differing from You only as effect differs from cause!"
