See heaven near

From the May 1983 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Why scan the roiling sky with mortal doubt,
Rehearsing dark concerns, maintaining view
Of enemies within and foes without?
Illusions! Myths! God, good, alone is true.
Elisha's servant stared. His cry of fear
Predicted doom, he blindly banished Love.
Elisha's calming faith saw heaven near
And chariots of fire flared above.
Bid vacillation go! Claim Christly peace.
Look up! Look up! Let your enlightened sight
Feel God's omnipotence. Old fears will cease
To be when understanding proves Truth's might.
God's angels now abound, and to the pure
In heart these are revealed. You are secure.
