Many of us long for a way to face the threat of possible nuclear destruction intelligently—a way to quiet fear, to think and act constructively. A superficial approach won't work. But Christian Science can help us to get down to some basic premises and conclusions.
If we start with consciousness, we have the key to reality. This Science shows us that God, Mind, Spirit, is the only true consciousness, the only knower, the only creator or outliner. There is no accretion in divine consciousness; perpetual unfoldment of Truth from within itself is actually all that is going on.
In God's universe, power and growth are harmless and are not involved with matter. God includes no elements of discord or self-destruction. The Bible affirms, "They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea." Isa. 11:9.
