Who is the audience?

From the November 1984 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Whom is the Bible written for? "For all mankind—for every single individual," the Christian Scientist would vigorously respond. He sees this Book of books, in its fullness, aimed at every receptive heart. And he recognizes that ultimately every heart will be receptive to the truth of its message.

The Scientist has this same broad view when it comes to the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. Her message, too, is for all mankind. There is not an individual on earth who is ignored by this revelation she put on record.

If we examine our thoughts closely, however, we might find there's a limitation in our view of who it is that the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy are designed to reach. At times we may suppose that specific statements are not directed at us—that someone else is the audience. Can you think of ways you may have assumed that those books, in their entirety, are not intended for you?
