Have you heard the preaching at The Mother Church lately? It's outstanding! Of course, it's still the same as the "preaching" in your own branch on Sunday, wherever you are. But have you thought about the Lesson-SermonIn the Christian Science Quarterly. lately as preaching? Try it. Try listening as though it were directed specifically to you, presented in an unstinting, self-sacrificing effort to help. (It is!)
Listen as though your life depended on it. (It does!) Listen to the Bible and to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy as though you were hearing words that burn with spiritual significance—a message that is life-changing, that can heal you. Because that's exactly what you are hearing.
Mrs. Eddy put it even more basically in her Message to The Mother Church for 1901: "True, I have made the Bible, and 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,' the pastor for all the churches of the Christian Science denomination, but that does not make it impossible for this pastor of ours to preach!... The Word of God is a powerful preacher, and it is not too spiritual to be practical, nor too transcendental to be heard and understood. Whosoever saith there is no sermon without personal preaching, forgets what Christian Scientists do not, namely, that God is a Person, and that he should be willing to hear a sermon from his personal God!"
