Welcome to Annual Meeting! Perhaps you're saying, "But I didn't attend." Well, we hope you'll feel as though you were present, as you read the reports and related articles in this special issue of the Journal. After all, Annual Meeting is a report to all the members of The Mother Church, not just to those who are able to come to Boston in a given year.
This issue of the Journal is the Annual Meeting issue. We think you'll agree when you read it that this is an especially vital, demanding—and rewarding—time for our Church. We wanted as many members of The Mother Church as possible to be able to share in this year's meeting. To carry forward that purpose, a copy of the August Journal is being mailed to each family or household.
If a copy comes to your home in this way, we hope you'll be blessed by it—and that you'll accept and read it in the spirit in which it is given. (This special mailing will go to English-speaking countries only. In some families duplication of our mailing may be unavoidable. If you are already a subscriber and an extra copy or copies of the August issue come to your home, we apologize and hope this explanation will be helpful.)
